Finn in the City

Hello out there to you all. I thought you might be interested to know how I've been spending the first month of life here in this big world. Well, my world has gotten much bigger, particularly in the last two weeks, as Mommy and I have made the trip to New York to live with Daddy.

Daddy did all the scouting for an apartment for our family while Mommy was still pregnant, and he found a gem in the heart of Astoria, Queens. We're still getting settled in, rearranging things and unpacking, as Mom is busy with me all day, and Dad is busy with work and his current show. He's been in rehearsals for a production of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night with Terry Schrieber's Studio, but this weekend was the opening of the run, so hopefully his schedule will settle down a bit in the upcoming month.

I'm getting used to all the hustle and bustle here. The noise of city life and loud neighbors hasn't really interrupted my napping.
Sometimes I actually sleep in my crib, though I still prefer Mom and Dad's big bed, and seem to sleep longer and more soundly there.

I also like to take naps in my swing and my car seat too, so with all the choices available it looks as though I will be a content city boy.

I enjoy looking around at all the commotion when Mom and I go out to run errands, too. She just puts me in the Baby Bjorn and off we go to the supermarket, the laundrymat, the coffee shop, or wherever.

Usually I fall right to sleep as she walks around the neighborhood, but sometimes I just stare at everything swirling around me. People stop my mommy to look at me. They think I'm a cutie and are amazed at how tiny I am.

But really, I'm not that small anymore. I'm growing bigger every day. I've already outgrown some of my tiniest clothes and last Monday, at 2 weeks and 4 days old, I lost my umbilical cord.

Mommy thinks I'm sporting quite the cute belly button. And Daddy just stares at me when he comes home from a long day. I think he might be a cannibal because he keeps trying to eat my nose and hands. I try and tell him that I need those parts, but he won't listen.

Mommy and I are going to be taking a trip back to Danville to stay with her parents, my Mim and Pop, for a couple nights. I have my second pediatric appointment this week and will be meeting some more friends, particularly the Pauls, my godmother's family, who are super excited to meet me. I already got to visit with Chris and Lily before Mom and I left PA. They bestowed an awesome Steelers garb upon me along with a cuddly puppy who keeps me company while I'm having my diaper changed. Also Miss Abberson came to see me at the new apartment last week. We snuggled a bit and she sang me a very lovely song.

And although it will be a while before we meet in person, I've had some very sweet notes from my godfather, Joseph P., and some super cool and trendy gifts sent all the way from Korea from my Fairy Godfather, fRyan. Some of Daddy's family and family friends have sent me some terrific gifts as well, and we couldn't be more thankful for
everyone's generosity.

Well, Daddy's home now and with all this cuddling and football, Sundays leave me pretty sleepy...

So, for now I'll bid you all farewell.

Until
Next
Time,
Finnegan
